The Sanzer Chassidim Tragedies of the Bus
Bomb Shalom Mordechai, 49, was the headmaster of the "Darchei Avot'' day school in Netanya for 600 kids of Sanzer Chassidim. R' Shalom was the father of 11 children. He and his wife waited for one week to come to Jerusalem for their vacation with the kids. Last night, R' Shalom Mordechai and his sons, Yissachar Dov, 9, and Mendi, 11, went for a Maariv at the Kotel. Another Sanzer Chassidic family of his friends, the Liepers were also 'vacationing' in Jerusalem. Shalom Mordechai had just gotten off his cellphone to his assistant in Netanya to check on a day school summer sponsored tiyul for 200 boys who were leaving today to the Golan with other Sanzer Chassidic children. As Shalom Mordechai boarded the no. 2 bus with his sons, Yissachar Dov and Mendi, he assisted his friend, David Lieper, a fellow Sanzer Chassid who along with his wife and 4 children boarded the same bus. David Lieper sat next to his friend Shalom Mordechai as the kids played in the seats behind them in bus no. 2. The terrorist blew himself up killing Shalom Mordechai and his 9 year old son, Yissachar Dov. Mendi Mordechai, 11, is in the ICU with severe head wounds, practicing kaddish for his father and brother who were buried this evening in Netanya, near the Sanzer Rebbe's grave. David Lieper is in the ICU near his friend's son, Mendi, in a coma. Mrs. Devorah Mordechai, the new widow, is now mother to 10 children as she buried her husband, Shalom and her son, Yissachar Dov tonight in Netanya, after 'vacationing' in Jerusalem, after her husband and sons tried to just pray at the Kotel and live.
