Alexander was an unusual and generous man.
Born and raised in the Ukraine, he married Alla. They had two daughters.
Though not Jewish, he respected his Jewish wife's interest in her
religion.
In fact, he was the one that suggested they should emigrate to Israel.
Alexander worked in a factory where he was liked as a hard and dedicated
worker.
In the army he was a member of the Border Police. It was during his
reserve duty that his jeep was caught in an ambush near Kibbutz Nir Oz by
Palestinian terrorists who had infiltrated from Gaza. They opened fire and
threw grenades,
killing Alexander and wounding three other soldiers.
Alexander was buried in Netanya's military cemetery. He is survived by his
wife, Alla, and their two daughters, Ina (13) and Emily (2). |
